Carbon Removal and Avoidance Projects

Klima Foundation is allocating capital to support environmental projects off the ground, enabling them to deliver real-world impact.

Whilst Foundation's technical solutions steward the development of aims to increase the overall velocity of carbon markets, there is no substitute for direct funding to project developers to have a direct, tangible climate impact.

The ecosystem has allocated tranches of funding to a diverse set of carbon credit projects from geographies worldwide. Klima Foundation acts as the counterparty in these agreements for the ecosystem.

Further, as the market acceptance around decentralized, open-source solutions for carbon markets increases, many of these projects stand to be integrated directly into the ecosystem and be used to demonstrate how the market infrastructure developed can improve market conditions for a diverse range of stakeholders.

Supported Carbon Projects

  • Improved Cookstoves for Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

  • Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement by Limenet in Italy

  • Kwamisa/Other Reserves Community in Ghana

  • Afforestation Project by GRO Foundation Uganda and Kenya

  • IOT Water Filtration Project in India

  • Easychar Biochar in UK

  • ExoMad Green Biochar in Bolivia

These projects mark an important step for Klima Foundation as it deepens its presence in the carbon market and demonstrates its capacity to channel reserves toward impactful climate initiatives. By strategically supporting impactful projects, Klima Foundation reinforces its commitment to scaling climate action.

These initiatives demonstrate how decentralized climate finance can effectively address environmental and humanitarian challenges. By combining community governance, blockchain technology, and verified carbon reduction methodologies, Klima Foundation is creating a replicable model for scaling climate action.

Why Section.jpg

Why the market needs environmental projects support?

The success of these environmental projects provides a clear pathway for future initiatives that seek to leverage carbon markets for social impact. Through continued innovation in sustainable decentralized finance (sDeFi) and community-driven governance, Klima Foundation remains committed to scaling climate solutions that deliver measurable environmental benefits while supporting vulnerable communities.

Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement by Limenet in Italy

Revolutionizing carbon removal with its patented Buffered Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (BOAE) technology. This innovative approach permanently stores CO₂ in seawater as equilibrated calcium bicarbonates, increasing ocean alkalinity and helping restore marine ecosystems affected by acidification.

Kwamisa/Other Reserves Community in Ghana

Through large-scale reforestation efforts, the project is restoring degraded forest reserves by planting teak trees, revitalizing ecosystems, and enhancing biodiversity. Beyond environmental restoration, it creates jobs, strengthens food security, and fosters sustainable land use practices.
